Last weekend my best friend Nichole gave birth to her beautiful daughter, Marisella Leahna. It was a planned C-section (March 12) but Mari had other plans! We all know how that goes, don't we mommys? These little ones are on their own time-table! (I remember a certain little person was supposed to arrive on December 28, 2009 but decided that he liked being in mommy's warm, comfortable tummy and chose to push that date back).
We were all surprised when Nichole's water broke in the middle of the night! How beautiful and natural, my sister and I later agreed when I shared with her the deets of Nichole's birth experience. What we meant is, while Mari's arrival had been scheduled, it was special that Nichole was nonetheless able to experience the beauty of her water breaking organically. (That's something that I hadn't experienced, as mine was broken artificially in the hospital).
I visited Nichole in the hospital and was able to meet Mari when she was just a couple days old. She is so sweet and tiny – I had forgotten how delicate they are in the beginning!
She is such a good baby! She slept almost the entire time I visited, but opened her eyes to look at me curiously a few times. I even got a little smile (I think)! :-)
I'm so happy Nichole got her little princess!!!! I can't wait for Chase and Mari to begin playing together… and the little bun whose baking in the oven now (who will only be 6 months older than Mari). We are so happy that we've both been blessed with healthy, sweet babies, and so close in age. Call us idealistic, but this has been our fantasy ever since we met and became friends 9 years ago – that our little ones would be close in age and become playmates.

AWWWWW!!!! Congratulations to you and Nichole! True friendship is a beautiful thing, because it is not easy to attain. I am happy that your children will be playmates! That is so beautiful! Mari is so gorgeous. A little Muneca she is! Funny thing is wordless Wednesday popped up first for me, and I said look at baby Chase, but then I looked at Mari and said wow Chase is a tot! Was he making puppet gestures with his hand? His picture just shows signs of a tiny tots imagination and I love it!!!!!
